Softball Game Preview: McCutcheon Mavericks vs. Danville Warriors

The McCutcheon Mavericks are taking a road trip to take on the Danville Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Danville took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on McCutcheon, who comes in off a win.

McCutcheon is headed out to face Danville after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Mavericks blew past Lafayette Jefferson 11-0 on Tuesday.

McCutcheon got a big performance out of Kacie Nading, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Nading a new career-high in RBI (three). Aubrey Miller was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.

McCutcheon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lafayette Jefferson only posted a batting average of .067.

Meanwhile, Danville came up short against Lawrence North on Tuesday and fell 11-6.

Piper Whitson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Addison Davis, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

McCutcheon couldn't quite get it done against Danville when the teams last played back in April of 2023 as they fell 7-2. Can the Mavericks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
