Basketball Game Preview: McGregor Bulldogs vs. Gatesville Hornets

McGregor hasn't had much luck against Gatesville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The McGregor Bulldogs will take on the Gatesville Hornets in a holiday battle at at 5:15 p.m. McGregor will be strutting in after a victory while Gatesville will be coming in after a defeat.

McGregor is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Holland: they outscored them in every quarter. McGregor blew past Holland 43-19 on Friday. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Bulldogs had established a 22 point advantage.

Meanwhile, Gatesville entered their game against Palestine on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Gatesville took a 54-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Palestine.

McGregor is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.6 points per game. As for Gatesville, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6.

McGregor couldn't quite finish off Gatesville in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 and fell 41-38. Can McGregor avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
