Basketball Recap: Carbondale Comes Up Short

Carbondale was the 66-37 winner over Benton when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Carbondale Terriers took a 46-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Benton Rangers on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Terriers have lost by exactly seven points.

Carbondale has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season. As for Benton, their victory bumped their record up to 10-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carbondale won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Marion at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Benton, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against Frankfort at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Benton is facing Frankfort at the right time seeing as Frankfort is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
