Softball Recap: Ellington Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Ellington came tearing into Saturday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the South Windsor Bobcats as they made off with a 14-2 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ellington got a massive performance out of Madison Havener, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Havener has posted since back in April. Taylor Havener was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Ellington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Ellington's win bumped their record up to 15-2. As for South Windsor, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Ellington will venture away from home to challenge Granby Memorial at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for South Windsor, they will welcome East Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
