The Rehobeth Rebels are taking a road trip to square off against the Russell County Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Rehobeth not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 20th. They put the hurt on Northside Methodist Academy with a sharp 15-1 win. The Rebels haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Rehobeth got a massive performance out of Maddie Williams, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jessa Buker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Rehobeth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Russell County got the win against Abbeville on Thursday by a conclusive 16-6.
Mikayla Heimbach looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
At the plate, Russell County let Arveonna Randolph and Tenley Cotarelo run wild. Randolph got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Cotarelo scored three runs while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Karoline Lance, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5.
Rehobeth's record now sits at 10-12-1. As for Russell County, their win ended an 11-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-17.
Russell County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rehobeth hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. It's a different story for Russell County, though, as they've only averaged .250. Will they be able to contain Rehobeth's hitters?
Everything went Rehobeth's way against Russell County in their previous meeting back in March, as Rehobeth made off with a 13-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
