Basketball Recap: Norland Takes a Loss

Norland suffered their closest loss since December 6, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Dwyer Panthers by a score of 62-59. The Vikings' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Norland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Anthony Walcott went 6 for 10 en route to 16 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Walcott a new career-high in steals. Lorenzo Major was another key player, putting up 12 points and five assists.

Leading Dwyer to victory were JORDAN QUINCE and TAMARI REED. QUINCE went 6 of 13 on his way to 18 points along with eight steals and six rebounds, while REED went 7 for 12 en route to 16 points. QUINCE's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was AHMAD LAWRENCE, who posted nine points and eight boards.

Norland's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Dwyer, they pushed their record up to 12-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Norland will be taking part in a tournament against Reagan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Reagan is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.7 points per game this season. As for Dwyer, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Dwyer Panthers face off against the Royal Palm Beach Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dwyer also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 60.2 points per game.
