Softball Recap: Lancaster Comes Up Short

Lancaster was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Buford Yellow Jackets. The Bruins were not able to make up for their loss to the Yellow Jackets from their previous meeting back in April of 2022.

Samaria Jackson was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Another player making a difference was Olyanna Wheeler, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Lancaster now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Buford, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lancaster will challenge Camden at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Bruins will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. As for Buford, they will take on North Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Yellow Jackets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
