Basketball Game Preview: Boyd Yellowjackets vs. Pilot Point Bearcats

Boyd and Pilot Point are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Boyd Yellowjackets will welcome the Pilot Point Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Boyd is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Ponder on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Boyd lost 71-45 to Ponder. The Yellowjackets have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite their loss, Boyd saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lex Horton, who posted 16 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Bryson Haak, who had 11 points.

Meanwhile, Pilot Point was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against Ponder, falling 72-27. The Bearcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-17.

Boyd's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-20. As for Pilot Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Boyd skirted past Pilot Point 58-56 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Does Boyd have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pilot Point turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
