If New Iberia wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Sam Houston, they should've done a better job of containing E.J. Hanney. The Broncos were the clear victors by a 56-32 margin over the Yellowjackets on Friday with plenty of help from Hanney, who rushed for 248 yards and six scores. He is becoming a predictor of Sam Houston's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 3-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't).

The win snapped Sam Houston's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-5 record. As for New Iberia, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Sam Houston is set to take on their familiar foe Acadiana at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Hanney and Troy Kennerson. Meanwhile, New Iberia will square off against rival Lafayette at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
