The Old Fort Stockaders will take on the Lakota Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Old Fort has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 30.
St. Joseph Central Catholic hit Old Fort with a five-run fourth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Stockaders fell just short of the Crimson Streaks by a score of 6-5. Stockaders fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Crimson Streaks since on Saturday.
Tyson Frisch made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Skeel, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Lakota had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Danbury on Saturday as they made off with an 11-5 win.
Grant Bomer made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.
In other batting news, Grant Scherger was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Hunter Sweeney was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI.
Lakota was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory got Lakota back to even at 11-11. As for Old Fort, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.
