Soccer Game Preview: Maine South vs. Niles West

The Maine South Hawks will square off against the Niles West Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Maine South is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Wheaton-Warrenville South on Saturday. The Hawks fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-1. Maine South have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Their goal came courtesy of Phoebe Welsh, who's now up to three this season.

Lincoln Park typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Niles West proved too difficult a challenge. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Lions 2-1. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Niles West were the better team in the second half.

Maine South's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4-1. As for Niles West, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4-1.

Maine South beat Niles West by a goal when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 3-2. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
