Softball Recap: Triton Central Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Triton Central couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Salem Lions on Saturday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Tigers, who until this contest were averaging 2.58 runs allowed.

Ashlyn Hittle made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Madison Collins was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

The defeat snapped Triton Central's winning streak at 15 games and leaves them with a 23-3 record. As for Salem, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-8.

Triton Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Salem, they will take on Tecumseh at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Braves will roll in looking for their 23rd straight win, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
