Basketball Recap: Manila's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Manila can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against the Intermountain Christian Lions by a score of 43-31. The Mustangs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Manila to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kamryn Slaugh, who posted 11 points and five steals. Slaugh has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Sadie Davis was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Manila smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since the start of last season.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elaine Lunsford, who had 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendrick Lusk, who put up nine points.

Manila's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Intermountain Christian, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2.

Manila wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 34-22 victory against American Heritage on the 7th. As for Intermountain Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-28 loss against Rangely on the 7th.
