Basketball Recap: North Edgecombe Skates Past Southeast Halifax with Ease

There's no place like home for North Edgecombe, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They claimed a resounding 80-34 victory over the Southeast Halifax Trojans. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-20.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Edgecombe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamauri Cannady, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Cannady a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zyquarius Cherry, who posted 14 points along with seven boards and six assists.

North Edgecombe was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was O'Tavion Arrington, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points.

The win got North Edgecombe back to even at 5-5. As for Southeast Halifax, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

North Edgecombe didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 81-50 defeat against Tarboro on the 4th. As for Southeast Halifax, they will venture away from home to challenge Northampton County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northampton County will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Southeast Halifax surely won't give up without a fight.
