Softball Recap: West Haven Blue Devils vs. Amity Regional Spartans
West Haven had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 3-11 to make it eight. They lost 12-0 to the Amity Regional Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-2 back in April.
As for Amity Regional, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-3. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.
For Amity Regional's part, not much got past Amara Forstrom, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep West Haven off the board. Forstrom has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Alexx Reinwald was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Leah Monschein was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Haven will head out to take on Law at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Amity Regional, they will venture away from home to challenge Norwich Free Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
