Basketball Recap: Meredith Mitchell Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Greenville

Fairborn hadn't done well against Greenville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Fairborn Skyhawks came out on top against the Greenville Green Wave by a score of 44-36. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Skyhawks also won the last time the pair played back in February.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fairborn to victory, but perhaps none more so than Meredith Mitchell, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 16 points and eight rebounds. Mitchell has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Brooklynn Kimball was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Fairborn smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Fairborn pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Greenville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairborn will face off against Troy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Greenville, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Bethel at 7:30 p.m.
