Baseball Game Preview: Kirby Cougars vs. Middle College Bulldogs

The Kirby Cougars will challenge the Middle College Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Kirby has given up an average of 10.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Kirby came up short against Cordova on Friday, falling 11-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Wolves: they've now lost three in a row.

Terrence Stephenson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. Stephenson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Middle College started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Fayette Ware. They lost 14-5 to the Wildcats on Wednesday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jordan Stevens made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Shawn Herring also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Kirby's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Middle College, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Kirby suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Middle College in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Kirby avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
