Basketball Recap: Mount de Sales Academy Comes Up Short

Mount de Sales Academy lost against John Milledge Academy back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the John Milledge Academy Trojans.

Despite the loss, Mount de Sales Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zavion DeShazier went 6 for 9 on his way to 15 points and three steals. DeShazier is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Horace Sanford, who posted six points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Mount de Sales Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

John Milledge Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Johnson, who went 8 of 19 en route to 20 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Bryce McDonel, who went 6 for 7 on his way to 13 points.

Mount de Sales Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for John Milledge Academy, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount de Sales Academy will face off against Piedmont Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mount de Sales Academy is facing Piedmont Academy at the right time seeing as Piedmont Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for John Milledge Academy, they will take on Tattnall Square Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Tattnall Square Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
