Soccer Game Preview: Monacan vs. Huguenot

The Monacan Chiefs will head out to challenge the Huguenot Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Monacan will be strutting in after a win while Huguenot will be coming in after a defeat.

Monacan's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Manchester by a score of 2-0. Given Monacan's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Manchester are ranked 135th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Huguenot was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Clover Hill. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

The victory made it two in a row for Monacan and bumps their season record up to 8-5-1. As for Huguenot, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10-3.

Monacan took their win against Huguenot in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 4-0 score. Will the Chiefs repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
