Baseball Recap: Green Starts Season with Win on the Road

Green had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Chesapeake Panthers. For the Bobcats, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.

Landon Kimbler made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero hits, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Kimbler wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jonathan Knapp, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs Knapp has posted since back in April of 2024. Another was Mason Neal, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Chesapeake's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Green will venture away from home to square off against Rock Hill at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Chesapeake, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge Varsity Opponent at 4:25 a.m. on Saturday.
