Football Recap: Ethan Yates' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Whitko over Peru

It was a proper cat-fight when Whitko duked it out with Peru on Friday. The Wildcats fell 32-22 to the Tigers. The Wildcats have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Whitko lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ethan Yates, who picked up 31 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Jericho Boston also helped out with an impressive 108 receiving yards.

Leading Peru to victory were Isaiah Korba and Aiden Sheets. Korba rushed for 195 yards and two TDs while picking up 11.5 yards per carry, while Sheets rushed for 61 yards and one touchdown on only six carries. The dominant performance also gave Sheets a new career-high in passer rating (135.7).

Whitko's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Peru, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Meanwhile, Peru will square off against rival Lewis Cass at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 955 yards in their previous games.
