While St. Patrick's win against Long Beach wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The St. Patrick Fighting Irish narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Long Beach Bearcats 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Fighting Irish have posted since May 9, 2024.

Ave DiFilippo looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-low in hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addysen Peyret, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That stolen base was her first of the season. Zoriah Martin was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

St. Patrick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February.

The victory made it two in a row for St. Patrick and bumps their season record up to 5-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Long Beach, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Poplarville's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Long Beach's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
