Basketball Recap: Morgan Township Cherokees vs. Valparaiso Vikings
The Morgan Township Cherokees were the 50-40 winner over the Valparaiso Vikings when they last played one another back in January of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. Morgan Township had to suffer through a rough 57-25 loss at the hands of the Vikings. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Morgan Township has scored all season.
Several Cherokees players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josie Lemmons, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Peyton Honchar, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Lillian Barnes was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 12 rebounds for Valparaiso. Barnes has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Raegan O'halek, who scored 14 points along with three steals and three blocks.
Morgan Township are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-7. As for Valparaiso, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-7.
Morgan Township will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Blackhawks at 11:00 a.m. Westville is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. As for Valparaiso, they will take on the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
