Baseball Recap: Menlo School Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

Menlo School took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Woodside, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Knights had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 5-3. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Liam Widner made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Widner wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zach Roeder, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Menlo School's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Woodside, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.
