Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Incarnate Word Academy

Incarnate Word Academy extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Abbey Sachanowicz. The Incarnate Word Academy Angels sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-45 win over the John Paul II Centurions on Monday thanks in part to Sachanowicz, who posted 13 points. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Audry Brysch, who had seven points and six rebounds. Those seven points gave her a new career-high.

Incarnate Word Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.6 points per game. As for John Paul II, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-9.

Incarnate Word Academy and Goliad will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. John Paul II will take on St. Joseph in a holiday battle at at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
