Softball Game Preview: St. Joseph Cadets vs. Law Lawmen

The St. Joseph Cadets will square off against the Law Lawmen on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

St. Joseph is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They never let Torrington get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Cadets, who have now won 11 matchups in a row.

Katie Dzialo made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 22 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, St. Joseph let MacKenzie Caouette and Kelsey Flanagan run wild. Caouette went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Flanagan went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Flanagan has posted since back in May. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenna Stratton, who went 1-for-5 with three RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Law got the win against Naugatuck on Monday by a conclusive 18-0. The victory continues a trend for the Lawmen in their matchups with the Greyhounds: they've now won three in a row.

St. Joseph's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Law, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.

St. Joseph took their victory against Law in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0 score. Will the Cadets repeat their success, or do the Lawmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
