Basketball Recap: Grants Comes Up Short

Grants was the 61-57 winner over Highland when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Grants Pirates took a 73-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Highland Hornets on Friday. The Pirates were down 57-33 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Jesus Licon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Highland, going 6-for-10 from beyond the arc on his way to 30 points and seven boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Licon has scored at least a third of Highland's points. DJ Spruell was another key player, putting up eight points and six assists.

Grants has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-13 record this season. As for Highland, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-12.

Looking ahead, Grants will take on Belen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Highland, they will face off against Valencia at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Highland is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season.
