Volleyball Recap: Fleming's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Fleming waltzed into their match on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Weldon Valley Warriors as they made off with a 3-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

One reason for the win was Fleming's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-19, 25-15.

Ashley Bornhoft paced Fleming's offense, picking up 15 kills. Bornhoft got some help from Hayley Chamberlain and her 34 assists. Bornhoft was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.

Weldon Valley's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isabella Petrino, who had 26 digs. Petrino has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last six times she's played. Elyse Anderson was another key player, getting eight digs and three aces.

Fleming's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Weldon Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Fleming didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Lone Star on the 25th. As for Weldon Valley, they have also already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Briggsdale on the 25th.
