Football Recap: Calvary Chapel Piles Up the Points Against Santa Ana Valley

Calvary Chapel strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past the Santa Ana Valley Falcons 42-14. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Falcons are ranked 945th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Calvary Chapel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Colin Wiles, who threw for 228 yards and four TDs. A healthy portion of that aerial production (96 yards to be exact) went to Daniel Nieves, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.

Fern Dircio and Eduardo Vivas certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Dircio rushed for 92 yards and one score, while Vivas rushed for 80 yards on only ten carries. That rushing touchdown was Dircio's first of the season.

Calvary Chapel's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Santa Ana Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Calvary Chapel is set to take on their familiar foe Estancia at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Calvary Chapel 11.3, Estancia 12.7) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Santa Ana Valley will challenge rival Ocean View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
