Baseball Game Preview: Central Noble Cougars vs. Eastside Blazers

Central Noble hasn't had much luck against Eastside recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Blazers at 5:30 p.m. Eastside took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Central Noble, who comes in off a win.

On Monday, Central Noble needed a bit of extra time to put away Lakewood Park Christian. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over the Panthers. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Treyton Fletcher made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Parker Boots was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Brody Morgan was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Eastside didn't have quite enough to beat Fairfield on Monday and fell 3-2. The Blazers have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Eastside's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Central Noble, their record now sits at 5-12.

Central Noble skirted past Eastside 3-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
