Softball Recap: Lewis Cass Kings vs. Northfield Norsemen
Lewis Cass started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Northfield. They fell just short of the Norsemen by a score of 7-6 on Monday. The Kings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Norsemen apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Ruth (Amma) Fitzhugh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Shay Dishner made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Penn, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Lewis Cass' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-9. As for Northfield, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-4.
