Basketball Game Preview: Dirigo Cougars vs. St. Dominic Saints

On Thursday, Dirigo opened the new year with a less-than-successful 63-53 defeat to Hall-Dale. The Cougars have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, St. Dominic took their contest on Thursday with ease, bagging a 68-39 victory over Waynflete. The Saints have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

Dirigo's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for St. Dominic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.

Dirigo came up short against St. Dominic in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 59-51. Can Dirigo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
