Softball Recap: Galax Comes Up Short

If Galax was riding high fresh off their 22-0 takedown of Bland County on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Maroon Tide lost 19-9 to the Radford Bobcats on Wednesday. The Maroon Tide were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Maddason Bobbitt and Beth Sizemore stepped up to the plate in a big way. Bobbitt went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Sizemore went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Galax's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Radford, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Galax will venture away from home to challenge Fort Chiswell at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pioneers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Radford, they will head out on the road to take on Giles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
