Basketball Recap: North Tampa Christian Academy Victorious

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but North Tampa Christian Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 78-77 victory over the Sickles Gryphons. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Titans.

North Tampa Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cali Midyett, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. That's the most boards Midyett has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jelissa Anderson, who went 8 for 18 on her way to 19 points and six steals.

North Tampa Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Despite the defeat, Sickles had strong showings from Kelsey Sharpe, who posted 37 points along with eight rebounds and six assists, and Jadyn Watts, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten boards. The matchup was Watts' ninth in a row with at least ten points. Ryley Beringer also deserves some recognition as she posted her first blocks of the season.

North Tampa Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Sickles, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6.

North Tampa Christian Academy has already played their next contest (against The First Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sickles wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 67-65 defeat against Booker on the 20th.
