Recap: Woods Cross Wildcats vs. Box Elder Bees
The Woods Cross Wildcats were the 55-49 winner over the Box Elder Bees when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Woods Cross was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 50-49 to Box Elder. Woods Cross has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Woods Cross lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hunter Jackson, who scored 13 points along with five assists. Jackson scored a full 26.5% of Woods Cross' points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Hayden Poulton, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Box Elder's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Kersey, who scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kersey has scored at least 25% of Box Elder's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Isaacson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Woods Cross bumped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Box Elder, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woods Cross will take on Clearfield at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Box Elder, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Viewmont at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Viewmont has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1.
