Baseball Recap: Zapata Hawks vs. Robstown Cottonpickers
Zapata was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Robstown Cottonpickers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cottonpickers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 last Thursday.
Noel Camarillo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits.
At the plate, Zapata saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was J.D. Salinas, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base.
Zapata now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Robstown, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-13.
As of now, neither Zapata nor the Cottonpickers have any future games scheduled.
