Baseball Game Preview: Morgan Trojans vs. Grantsville Cowboys

For the second straight game, Morgan will face off against Grantsville. The Trojans will welcome the Cowboys at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Morgan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Morgan barely beat Grantsville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Cowboys on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Trojans needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Owen Gilson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Bauerle, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Morgan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grantsville only posted a batting average of .273.

The defeat snapped Grantsville's winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 10-8 record. As for Morgan, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.

Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Morgan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Grantsville struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
