Recap: Gateway Christian vs. Hampton Christian Academy Warriors
Gateway Christian's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Hampton Christian Academy on the road and fell 51-12. Gateway Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-7.
Gateway Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Hallie Roth and Lanyah Franklin. Roth scored 6 points, while Franklin scored 5 points. Roth scored a full 50% of Gateway Christian's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Hampton Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayla Crosby, who scored 22 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds. The matchup was Crosby's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mikaela Lee, who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals.
Gateway Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Hampton Christian Academy, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gateway Christian will take on Broadwater Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Broadwater Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday. As for Hampton Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Summit Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
