Softball Game Preview: Irmo Yellow Jackets vs. Lexington Wildcats

Irmo is 0-4 against Lexington since March of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Irmo Yellow Jackets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lexington Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. Lexington took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Irmo, who comes in off a win.

While Irmo's victory against South Aiken wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Irmo had just enough and edged out South Aiken 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Yellow Jackets have posted since April 16, 2024.

Meanwhile, Lexington faced Catawba Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. Lexington fell just short of Catawba Ridge by a score of 7-6. The Wildcats' loss signaled the end of their undefeated season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lexington fell to 4-1. As for Irmo, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Irmo might still be hurting after the 14-0 defeat they got from Lexington in their previous meeting back in April of 2018. Can Irmo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
