Softball Game Preview: Millersport Lakers vs. Northridge Vikings

The Millersport Lakers will take on the Northridge Vikings at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Millersport's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Northridge has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

On Saturday, Millersport came up short against Nelsonville-York and fell 16-11.

Millersport got a massive performance out of Claire Haney, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Raver, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Northridge lost 17-6 to Lakewood on Monday.

Kaylee Goodwin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

Millersport's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Northridge, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Millersport's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Lakers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Northridge, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Millersport continue to outrun the ball?

Millersport might still be hurting after the 18-3 defeat they got from Northridge in their previous meeting back in April of 2018. Can the Lakers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
