Softball Recap: Academy of Careers & Exploration Takes a Loss

Academy of Careers & Exploration dropped their record down to 9-8-1 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Hesperia Christian Patriots by a score of 9-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-3 on Wednesday.

Addison Shockley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Kamie Costa was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

As for Hesperia Christian, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-7-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

On Hesperia Christian's side, they got a massive performance out of Eden Skinner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Skinner has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Rilee Cooper, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Academy of Careers & Exploration didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 32-0 victory against Lucerne Valley on the 5th. As for Hesperia Christian, they have also already played their next contest, a 22-13 win against Big Bear on the 7th.
