Soccer Game Preview: Mountain Brook vs. Gadsden City

The Mountain Brook Spartans will face off against the Gadsden City Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Mountain Brook is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alabama's top teams: Briarwood Christian, who was ranked 12th at the time (Mountain Brook was ranked eighth). Mountain Brook fell just short of Briarwood Christian by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. That makes it the first time this season the Spartans have let down their home crowd.

Meanwhile, Gadsden City won against Albertville on Thursday with three goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Tuesday. Gadsden City beat Fort Payne by a goal, winning 3-2. That's two games straight that the Titans have won by just one goal.

Gadsden City pushed their record up to 5-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those four matches. As for Mountain Brook, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2-1.
