Baseball Recap: Lakewood Comes Up Short

Lakewood lost against Mount Vernon back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Cougars lost 12-2 to the Bulldogs. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lakewood saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cayden Hayes, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Lakewood's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Mount Vernon, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4.

Looking ahead, Lakewood will square off against Meridian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Mount Vernon, they will take on Lynden Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
