Softball Recap: Quantico Comes Up Short

Quantico extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 2-5. They came up short against the Seton Conquistadors, falling 27-0. The shutout was out of character for the Warriors seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

As for Seton, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-5-1. The matchup marked their most dominant win of the season.

For Seton's part, Olivia Chau was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. Those 15 strikeouts gave Chau a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and eight RBI. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Seton got a massive performance out of Christina Witter, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. That triple was Witter's first of the season. Maddie Heiny was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs and two RBI.

Coming up, Quantico will square off against Trinity Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Gryphons will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. As for Seton, they will challenge Saint John Paul the Great Catholic at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Conquistadors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
