If the Coral Academy of Science - Reno Falcons were riding high off their 51-14 takedown of the Oasis Academy Bighorns last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Coral Academy of Science - Reno was the victim of a rough 64-38 defeat at the hands of Pershing County on Tuesday. Coral Academy of Science - Reno was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-15.
Coral Academy of Science - Reno lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kieliaa Martinez Erler, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Kailyn Damasco, who scored nine points.
It was another big night for Raegan Burrows, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and five steals for Pershing County. That makes it six consecutive games in which Burrows has scored at least a third of Pershing County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Happy, who scored nine points along with 13 assists and five rebounds.
Coral Academy of Science - Reno dropped their record down to 7-12 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Pershing County, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coral Academy of Science - Reno will take on West Wendover at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (West Wendover is ranked 60th, while Coral Academy of Science - Reno is ranked 72nd). As for Pershing County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Battle Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Battle Mountain: 29.8, Pershing County: 23.7) so any points scored will be well earned.
