Baseball Recap: Maryvale Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

The matchup between Maryvale and Griffith Institute on Wednesday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Flyers were the clear victors by a 20-10 margin over the Griffins. The Flyers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Jacob Kuciel made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with three runs.

In other batting news, Maryvale got a massive performance out of Dominic Daly, who got on base in all six of his plate appearances with five runs and one double. Those five runs gave Daly a new career-high. Luke Altieri was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

Maryvale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory keeps Maryvale at an undefeated 7-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average this season. As for Griffith Institute, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
