Baseball Game Preview: Olney Cubs vs. Petrolia Pirates

For the second straight game, Olney will face off against Petrolia. The Cubs will face off against the Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Olney comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Olney had taken Petrolia down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Cubs came up short against the Pirates, falling 11-5.

For Petrolia's part, Brodie Jackson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Jackson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, John Dagenais was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Dunn, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Petrolia now has a winning record of 6-5-2. As for Olney, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7-1.
