League recap: Beaverton scores huge upset over Farwell

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Farwell, who took down 440th ranked Farwell, 20-14.

Gladwin moved up to 261 from 304 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Jack Pine. The Flying G's climbed the ranks as a result of a 42-24 win over Meridian.

Hunter Mires put up the best numbers through the air as Roscommon topped Houghton Lake. He finished with a total of five completions for 112 yards and two touchdowns. Mires' favorite target this week was John Miller, who caught two passes for 62 yards.

Zack Tyler provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Clare bested Harrison. He completed five passes for 135 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 127 yards. Tyler's favorite target this week was Colton Punches, who caught two passes for 65 yards.

Demetri Trice was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 143 yards on 13 carries as Gladwin defeated the Hornets. Teammate Landon Grove added to the ground attack by rushing for 112 yards.

Gladwin's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Flying G's feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Grove has thrown for 746 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Trice has 16 catches for 427 yards. Grove also leads the league in rushing with 634 yards.

A big matchup in Jack Pine this week will be when the Bucks take on Clare. As it stands, Roscommon is in first, while Kelly Luplow's team is in fourth.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Joe Holloway's team takes on the Pioneers. The Bucks have allowed 88 points this season, while Clare has given up 75. Roscommon allowed 6 points last week as it topped the Bobcats.

The Pioneers extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Harrison, 24-7. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
