Football Recap: Millbury Starts Season with Victory Against Leicester

Millbury had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victors by a 40-14 margin over the Leicester Wolverines on Friday. Surprisingly, this marked the Woolies' seventh straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Matteus Mateo was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 112 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries, and also threw for 217 yards and one touchdown on only 11 passes. Those 112 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Millbury's leading receiver Aiden Phillipo was Mateo's top target yet again, picking up 178 receiving yards and one score.

Millbury wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 54-12 victory against Maynard on the 19th. As for Leicester, they have also already played their next game, a 37-28 win against Burncoat on the 20th.
