Volleyball Recap: Corner Canyon Takes Down Ranked Skyridge

Corner Canyon faced Skyridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Chargers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Falcons. The victory was nothing new for the Chargers as they're now sitting on four straight.

Corner Canyon wouldn't go down easily and took Skyridge into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 28-26, 15-25, 25-16, 15-10.

Corner Canyon was led to victory by Torri Hildebrandt and Reagan Williams. Hildebrandt had 19 digs and six assists, while Williams had 16 digs and four assists. Those 19 digs gave Hildebrandt a new career-high. Liana Latu also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

When it comes to explaining why Skyridge lost, don't look at Keira Bassett. Despite the final result, she had 12 assists and nine digs.

Corner Canyon's win bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Skyridge, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 18-1.

Corner Canyon has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Lone Peak on the 7th. As for Skyridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-2 loss against Madison on the 3rd.
